NRA Press Conference
and a response to the critics.

Our problem? Gun-free zones.

The young folks at huffpostlive as they respond to the NRA press conference, sight that, "there is no evidence that these shooters choose places where people won't have guns."

What are you talking about? You don't believe that violent individuals won't target those who are weaker than them? The bully in school doesn't go after the jock who can press 350 in gym class, he goes after the more vulnerable. And as for the Ft Hood incident, that guy was not only insane, but really stupid. The sole suspect was shot and taken into custody by Department of the Army Civilian Police officers.

You want some evidence?

Columbine gun-free zone.
New York City pizza shop gun-free zone.
Luby's Cafeteria gun-free zone.
Amish school in Pennsylvania gun-free zone.
Virginia Tech gun-free zone.
Westroads Mall in Omaha gun-free zone.
New Life Church in Colorado Springs gun-free zone.
Kaiser Cement California gun-free zone <- down the street from me)
Aurora Movie Theater gun-free zone.
Hook Elementry Connecticut gun-free zone.

The list goes and will go on and on.

May I sight a personal experience? I took a trip to Israel a number of years ago. Beautiful people and a very historic. They live in constant fear of terrorism. Prior to my vist there was a ban on guns. There was terror in the streets all the time. Children being shot and killed as they traveled in school busses with their unarmed teachers. By the time I visited, the gun ban had been lifted for a few years and many people were allowed to carry guns to protect themselves. Principles and teachers of schools were given guns to protect the children in school and when traveling in school busses. On my trip I arrived one day at a well known ancient site called, Solomon's Temple or commonly known as the "wailing wall" where pilgrims will go and pray. We stopped to respect and take in this rich cultural experience. As we approached the main gate to enter, there were many armed guards watching the area. Just then a white buss drove up, stopped and when the door opened, two adult men stepped out, each carrying an M-16. Then a bunch of school children began filing out of the bus as well. Behind the children, one more adult, this time a women, exited also armed with an M-16. They were protecting the children they were responsible for. They loved these children and respected the families so much they were willing to protect, with lethal force if necessary again the threats that were around them. Reports show today that since lifting the gun ban in Israel, violence to the innocent, especially school children, has dramatically decreased.

Ok, that's Israel, this is the US, we don't have terrorism like Israel does. We don't?
Killing kid's is killing kids . It's evil as far as I'm concered. Terroristic if you ask me. What to do you think the parents and families of the victims in Connecticut think?

God help us.

Our real problem? As a culture we don't care about anyone but ourselves. If we had a mentality that we need to love and respect other above ourselves, we'd be better off.

Romans 12:10 as an example. Read it.

STOP AB 1527

There is a very bad bill on the Governor's desk that needs action on your part. AB 1527 will both require all long guns to be transported in a "locked container" and create a ban on the transportation of long guns outside the home with a list of "exemptions" for lawful purposes. Such systems in other states (notably NJ) have resulted in the arrest of countless law abiding citizens for inadvertent violations, or no violation at all.

It used to be that when the the "bad guy" walked into town there was fear and concern. But, when the "good guy" walked down the street with his rifle, people felt comfortable and safe. I understand that knowing who the good guy vs. the bad guy is these days is more difficult because there isn't the type of relationship in a larger city we once had in a smaller town. But a law like this will make even the good guy appear to be the bad guy.

Consider this, if a construction worker should walk down the street with his hammer in tool belt exposed, do we think of him as a good guy or bad guy?

Read this: http://goo.gl/vo1kb

Are these good guys carrying a bad hammer? Did the hammer make these guys bad? Should we outlaw the carrying of a hammer? This type of crime happens all the time in America. Why didn't law enforcement see this hammer and arrest this hammer carrier before he could perpetrate this crime?

See how silly this is?

Dealing with criminals in a very real and severe way is much more effective in sending a message to would be perpetrators of crime than punishing a non-criminals by passing silly laws that only the people like me, the non-criminal, will abide by. It's like saying, if we only get rid of all those hammers, we'd have no more crime or criminals. Everyone will be the good guy.

Another thought. The real underlying issue here is, gun control legislature is about control of the people and about eventually disarming Americans completely.

I'm telling you, that this current federal administration is about equalizing the world. Not bettering the whole world by raising the bar for the rest of world and helping them, but by lowering the American bar to the rest of the world. In affect, reducing America to a place were it was at before the revolutionary war.

But, that's a whole different blog entry.

++++++++++++++

Here's my letter to the Governor of CA. Use it if you'd like in it's entirety or perhaps use it as a basis for your own letter.

Here's where to write: http://govnews.ca.gov/gov39mail/mail.php

Honorable Gov. Brown,

I am writing in opposition to AB1527. This proposed law is a very bad idea for a lot of reasons:

AB1527 is a law in search of a problem. I believe the majority rifle owners respect the fact that the sight of a rifle or shotgun may make non-gun owners uncomfortable. This is why I personally and all of the rifle owners I know respect others and already, when transporting long guns, do so in a respectful and discreet manner as to not make others uncomfortable. I believe this bill is written so vaguely, that no attempt to be discreet will be acceptable and could cause more currently law-abiding citizens to be in violation of a poorly written, unnecessary law.

AB1527 contains sections that are so vague that they invite abuse by over zealous law enforcement officers and prosecutors.
The law that would be created by this bill is so complex and convoluted that it is virtually certain that both law enforcement and gun owners will misunderstand it.

Exemption based systems, such as the one contained in AB1527, in other sates have resulted in law abiding citizens being arrested for inadvertent violations. They have also resulted in many arrests of gun owners who were, in fact, complying with the law.

Because it is both unnecessarily restrictive, overly complex, and contains vague sections, AB1527 is nearly certain to be challenged on 2nd Amendment and other constitutional grounds.

Given that the DC Court of Appeals has ruled that long guns cannot be restricted in the same way, or to the same degree, as handguns it is virtually certain that a challenge on 2nd Amendment grounds will succeed. It is significant that this court reached this decision applying only intermediate scrutiny to the 2nd Amendment. The Supreme Court has signaled in McDonald that the level of scrutiny ultimately applied to the Second Amendment will likely be higher.

Defending AB1527 will cost the taxpayers a great deal of money. In the event of a loss, which is the likely outcome, the state may have to pay even more in attorney's fees and court ordered penalties. The law that would be created by this bill is so complex and convoluted that it is virtually certain that both law enforcement and gun owners will misunderstand it.

For all of the above reasons, I respectfully request that you veto AB1527.

Are you a responsible citizen?

All this talk about taxing bullets, reporting ammo sales above 1000 rounds, blah blah blah, don't we get it? It's be cause liberal politicians just simply don't believe Americans can govern themselves. I mean if a nut job goes and buys 6000 of ammo to kill folks in a movie theater, then all Americans must be like that, so let's control them all!  I'm insulted.

So if we take away all guns when an amoral decides to act, why don't we tear down all the levees across the country when one breaks in a storm. Surely all the levees are bad. Or if God forbid, we have an oil refinery disaster, quickly shut down all the oil producers across the country because possibly millions could die from dangers of refineries across America. Or think about this; A negligent driver of an automobile hits and kills a child who is crossing the street. Terrible, simply terrible. I can barely stand the thought of something like that. But what do we do, ban the use of automobiles? If we just didn't have automobiles, this wouldn't happen. Of course not.

We prosecute to the fullest extent of the law the perpetrator of such a heinous act.

Do you get my point?

I suspect whats going to happen to the nut case in Colorado. The law will feel sorry for him and maybe put him away in a padded cell and feed him every day and provide him counseling. I tell you who needs the counseling. It's families who lost their loved ones in such a heinous act as occurred in Colorado. But they will probably not get any care, because legislators are so busy crafting a law to prohibit the law abiding citizens from every owning a rifle again. There is no legislation that says, prosecute severely the perpetrator of heinous crimes and provide support to the victims. Instead, victims and law abiding citizens suffer, whilst the criminal is cared for.

We've got it all backwards folks. Our moral compass is mis-pointed.  We are moving away from a absolute standard, and allowing relativism to dictate what we do. Even worse, we are letting misguided legislation dictate what we do. Instead of the freedom for all, which requires some pretty tough responsibility on everyone's part, we allow the control of all by a few, which doesn't demand the people to even think anymore.

So if you are a responsible human, and can live up to the challenge of being free citizens, stand up and be counted. Show our current legislators you can think for yourself. Please don't let our freedoms be taken away by the few because you didn't stand up and say, "Enough!"

Let's ban together and oppose SB249

Here's a suggested letter:

Please join me by opposing SB 249 because it is a continued assault on our Second Amendment Rights.

This Bill is also know as the Anti-"Bullet Button" Law which in fact is really a way to stop the import to CA "conversion kits" that assure rifles in CA are fully compliant with current legislation.

The facts according to the CA Department of Justice are that since 1999, crimes with "assault weapons" are almost nonexistent! Additionally, there is not a single reported incident of a crime being committed with a rifle equipped with a "Bullet Button". It's obvious, SB 249 is unnecessary. It will however do 2 things if passed;

1) Infringe upon the rights of the people to keep and bear arms. (anti-constitutional)

2) Make criminals out of current law abiding citizens who legally own rifles so equipped.

Please Oppose SB249. I know together we find a better way to fight crime. I assure you, it's not by eroding US citizens their constitutional rights.

Thank you sir/madam for your time and attention to this matter.
